Mike's Note: A customer called today to remind me of HIS story. After a serious accident, his insurance company sent him to a Dealer Insurance Direct Repair Shop for repair of his wrecked car. Over $15,000 was spent in repairs to his expensive sedan. He made repeated trips back to the car dealer body shop to only be finally turned away. The Post Repair Inspection we completed uncovered repairs so bad that the car had to be totaled. On one hand he was glad the problem was gone; on the other, he felt betrayed that his own company would lead him astray. Mike,

As soon as I took one look at my daughter’s car, after a deer decided to step in her path, I knew exactly who to call and where to take the car for estimate and repair. Believe me this was a smart move on our part because as soon as the insurance company was contacted they began stalling, steering, and limiting tactics.

Amazingly there was immediate polarization of the two sides of the issue. While Chuck and the staff at Orso’s were more than cooperative and cordial, the insurance representatives took a combative stance. Once we established that Orso’s was our choice for repair they delayed inspecting the vehicle for several days and immediately refused to negotiate any of the repairs deemed necessary to make to return the car to “pre-loss” condition.

Throughout the entire ordeal Mike, Chuck and the staff kept us on track and informed of the status of the repairs. After a tense three weeks Orso’s delivered a vehicle that looks and drives better than it did before the mishap.

My daughter and I have learned a lot from this experience. Mike the integrity, thoughtfulness, and professional attitude presented by you and your staff was exceptional! We were treated more like friends than customers! Christine and I have become a “commercial” for Nick Orso’s with everyone we meet.

Dear Mike,

We would like to thank you and your staff for all the time and effort you put into restoring our vehicle. The car has a lot of sentimental value to us. It was very upsetting and to put it nicely, to have to deal with all the aspects of insurance, adjusters and a specialty antique insurance company. We were beside ourselves.

Thanks to you and all the knowledgeable information you gave us. We were able to deal with all of the unforeseen road blocks the insurance company threw at us. After all that and your expertise in dealing with Corvettes not only was it a learning experience, it was quite interesting to watch the steps involved to bring our 1970 Vette back to showroom condition.

Please add my name to the list of satisfied customers of Nick Orso's Body Shop. Last Thursday my car was damaged in a hit and run and I brought it in to your garage to have it looked at. Larry and Lenore could not have been more helpful in getting the information, providing me with a rental vehicle, and coordinating the repairs with the insurance company. I was thrilled to be back in my car by the following Monday. The repairs look terrific and one would never know it was in an accident.

Most of us cringe at the thought of having to deal with repair garages, insurance companies and insurance agents. Your company could not have made it easier and more satisfactory.

I called my GEICO Insurance Co. on 4/17/07 to report my comprehensive collision damage with a turkey. I was told that I could not go to my body shop for an estimate that I needed to go to their drive thru claim service. I then called Nick Orso's and they told me this was untrue. I felt coerced into going to the drive thru claim service. If I wasn't as confident as I am I might not have even called my body shop.

I just wanted to say thanks for the education. I have listened to your radio spots for so long that when I had an accident I knew just what to do. First I called your office! Then I called Allstate and just like you said they tried to get me to take the car to another shop. But I was not persuaded with all their blah-blah-yata-yata.

I have to tell you they tried. Now that the repairs are done I have to tell you everyone at Nick Orso's did a great job. From the person at the front desk to the fellow who cleaned the car. Every detail was considered.

I was kept informed and felt like I was part of the process. I really appreciate your staff going the extra mile to make sure the parts were not knock-off parts and that all the damage was addressed.

Dear Mr. Orso,

I don't live in Syracuse anymore but I stumbled across a blog where someone is attempting to slam you. I am very surprised at how despicable these people are. I think these people have another agenda. My family has used Orso's for years for a range of services from painting to major dents. You have always made even the slightest flaw right always standing behind your work! My Grandmother took her car to you in the 50's and was an ambassador till the day she died. Mike fixed my Mercedes back in 2001 when it needed work and it still looks great. Even when I had problems that a dealer caused, I went to Orso's and they fixed them for me perfectly. I understand your Dad has passed away but he too was wonderful people, I’m sorry. I had my Audi fixed in Scottsdale and it took 5 attempts and it still was not right. I only wish I had someone like Nick’s to take care of my car here. This person needs to get a grip! I'm writing to this freak and copying you in on the mail, as I don't know if you have seen the site. Know this, I will fly to Syracuse on my own dime to testify if you need me!

I wanted to thank you for the tremendous job that you did on my mom’s car. When she called me to tell me that she had been hit, I headed to the scene immediately to check on her. The policeman onsite asked me if we had a preferred shop to tell the tow driver, and I said “Of course! Nick Orso’s”. Needless to say, I didn’t have to tell the driver where the shop is located. My greatest thanks to Lenore, Larry, and all the staff for going over and above. From the moment we walked in the door, Lenore made my mom feel completely at ease, in spite of the trauma that she had just experienced an hour earlier. She asked who our carrier was, and then told us that Larry would handle everything and would call us to let us know if there was any hidden damage. She arranged for a rental car, and you and Larry dealt with the insurance companies so that we didn’t have to get involved much at all. The next thing I knew, your office was calling us to let us know that the car was done. When we picked it up, it looked better than new, and even a small dent caused earlier by a careless parking lot neighbor was gone! Mom couldn’t have ever imagined a better repair job or better customer care! I knew what to expect, since you had restored my ’77 New Yorker many years ago, but to be honest even my expectations were exceeded.

Between the outstanding quality of work, exceptional customer care and your own community investment (the DWI awareness campaigns and ads, etc.), I love to brag that we have our vehicles serviced at Nick Orso’s, from serious collision work, to restorations, to the best detailing in town!

I just wanted to write you a brief note to say thank you to you and your entire organization. I was one of those unfortunate people to reaffirm that bridges do freeze before roadways as I completely rearranged the front end of our 6 month old car a few weeks ago.

I have been at your shop previously so after a few aggravating calls with my insurance company I stopped to arrange the repair. Upon arrival your staff recognized me as a former customer. I was in one of your rentals and State Farm was informed where to look at my car in a matter of minutes. Next thing I heard was “the car is being buffed and ready for pick-up, your all set.” I thank you for a level of customer service that is rare these days. Almost unnecessary to mention the car was repaired flawlessly. “The finest in collision repair” is obviously not a slogan, but rather simply the way you run your business. Although I verbally expressed my thanks many times as you helped me through the horror of my accident, I wanted to take the opportunity to thank you for everything you’ve done. One minute I was driving home for lunch on a sunny day and the and the next I was in pain, without a car, jumping through hoops at the mercy of a huge insurance company. I felt out of control and scary. Dealing with the aftermath of the injury and the administrative headaches just made it worse. Having my car transferred to your shop changed that all around for me. First let me compliment you on the fine repair job your people did on my van. It looks great. I couldn’t be more pleased. Looking under the hood it looks brand new and I realize, much of it is! I really did a number on it. The paint match is perfect! Great Job! I assume your technician reported back to you regarding the wrrrrring sound coming from, I would guess, the alternator. I understand that it is new and may need to wear in, to quiet down. My only comment is that original alternator was whisper quiet so I am aware of the difference. The Tech did hear the sound but found no reason for it. He suggests leaving it alone for now and seeing what happens. This is fine with me and I will be in touch with you if the noise does not disappear or diminish. Please let your crew know I am pleased with their work.

Dear Mike.

Recently I had work performed at Nick Orso’s Body S. I’m writing to express my satisfaction and gratitude for the excellent job that was done. It was a big job and it was big deal to me. The end results were magnificent! Back in January a strong wind ripped the door out of my hand and whipped against the front fender. The hinges were bent the door and fender crushed etc. I was mortified! Not only did the damage get repaired but a number of scratches were repaired. It was by far the best work I have ever had performed! I’ve been to many local body shops and none compare, or even come close. Your staff was extremely professional and accommodating and your facility is beautiful.
