Fun Stuff: SYRA-SCREWED BY THE NCAA? Syracuse-based morning radio duo Glenn "Gomez" Adams and Dave Coombs feel the Syracuse Orange basketball team was wrongly omitted by the NCAA Tournament Selection Committee. So...they're protesting. Monday they are unveiling the centerpiece of their political statement, a gigantic orange screw, provided by Rumetco Sales and painted by Nick Orso's Body Shop. They're also handing out smaller orange screws and obtaining signatures on a giant placard which they're mailing (along with the big screw) to the selection committee. If you want to take part, join Gomez & Dave for the spectacle Monday at noon, in front of the 24-second shot clock in downtown Syracuse's historic Armory Square. CONTACT: Gomez & Dave

| Yes it is our opinion the Syracuse Basketball Orangemen should have been in the NCAA Tournament. According to Gomez and Dave of TK-99 Radio, the Orange were "Screwed" by not getting an NCAA Tournament bid. Of course Nick Orso's was called on at 10am on March 12th to paint the giant screw donated by Rumet-CO - bright Orange - as it was to go on display in Armory Square at 12pm! Within 2 hours the giant Screw was Prepped and Painted and delivered in time for the Press Conference where the many Syracuse University Basketball team faithful spotted the giant orange screw! Among the visitors were Channel 9 News' Jennifer Lewke and TV 5 News. Smiles lifted the frowning faces as the whole community is in SHOCK leaving Syracuse feeling a bit snubbed, missing NCAA's once again. Many people out for a noon stroll, nurses, teachers, lawyers, SU Students and business people alike, all signed a giant card in many colorful digs at the NCAA Tournament Committee that will be sent to the NCAA Selection Committee Members for leaving the hometown favorite out of the NCAA Tourney. Syracuse will play South Alabama in the first round NIT at the Carrier Dome on March 14th at 7Pm, Televised on ESPN. GO ORANGE!! |
