At Nick Orso's we are always looking for qualified technicians. I said, "qualified" not "prima-dona-fided!" At Nick Orso's we run the shop not the techs. We are responsible for managing the repair start to finish. Our Techs only need to follow instructions and our written work directives. Pay is commensurate with your ability to complete a quality segment of the repair in a reasonable time. And NO… we don't use stopwatches!
Many technicians come to us after working for other shops where promises were not kept. They tell us where bonuses and incentives were stripped or capped. Some tell us about caps on flat-rate pays. Some techs tell us charge backs are common on insurance directed repairs that are done over. Techs tell us they know the "do-overs" are not their fault, but the fault of ill-advised deals made in the office. Some tell us they subsidize rental car costs or work for different labor rates depending on how much a particular insurance company allows. That's just wrong and not consumer friendly either.
We know the frustrations techs face with Direct Repair Programs and do not participate in any of them!! We see the horrors that result when shops try to accommodate impractical and ill-advised insurance company appraiser demands. We know that aftermarket and junkyard parts are a big problem in the shop and are not in the best interest of consumers. We know that most techs are frustrated over this and you should know we rarely use Aftermarket or junkyard parts. We are very careful to protect our customers from unfair claims practices. We never expect our techs to absorb our mistakes or work for free.
While there is no substitution for experience and we prefer skilled workers, we work closely with Morrisville Tech, Wyoming Tech, and other local Vocational Schools such as B.O.C.E.S. We are board members and advisors, and support the efforts of these programs.
